FAQs

Using Technology to Streamline Covid Safety

With a digital safety platform partnered with a testing lab service, your school community can simplify the tedious process of managing covid testing, vaccination records, close contact listing, and quarantine in a secure manner that is easy to use.

How it Works

CrisisGo provides the communication and information sharing platform needed to keep all your COVID-19 safety information secure and available for your safety team to make data-driven decisions regarding pandemic safety.

Achieve Health Management (AHM) provides the testing services required to maintain a safe and healthy school community with covid-testing, staffing to perform testing, and the testing results (at no cost to the district or individual)

FAQs About the Process:

  • Why are we doing Covid-19 testing at school?

Recent evidence indicates that in-person instruction can occur safely without minimum physical distancing requirements when mitigation strategies are fully implemented. A robust COVID-19 testing program is one of the recommended mitigation strategies and is strongly recommended by the California Department of Public Health and local health officers.

  • What stakeholders can be tested at the school?

WUSD offers testing for students, staff, volunteers, and congregate household members living with students. We hope to offer testing to our entire Windsor community soon.

  • What kind of tests are available?

Individuals presenting with symptoms will be given the option of an Antigen/Rapid test and a required PCR test. Non-symptomatic individuals will only receive a PCR test. However, it should be noted that though Antigen/ Rapid tests are available at our sites, they are not recommended as they have not proven to be reliable.

Students and staff who are symptomatic, especially those who have a known exposure, will be required to wait for a result from a PCR test in order to return to school/work.

Both kinds of tests will be done using an anterior nasal swab, which is more comfortable than the deep nasal swab. The swab only enters the nostril cavity ½ to ¾ of an inch. You may experience a tickling sensation.

  • Does this test detect the COVID-19 Delta variant?

The PCR test will identify the Delta variant.

  • Who will provide the staffing to administer the tests?

Our current testing vendor, Achieve Health Management (AHM) will provide the testing staff and supplies. They will be supplemented with additional medical professionals hired by the district to help manage the program.

  • How will the test process work?

Any student and staff member with COVID symptoms will be asked to go home. Instructions for testing requirements will come from the school. Individuals register for testing using AHM’s testing registration portal.

While we aren’t offering appointments, your registration will allow you to test at whichever testing site is available on a given day. Individuals then move on to the sample collection, where they are swabbed, and the labeled vial is prepped for shipping. If parents choose modified quarantine as an option for their child, they will be notified through CrisisGo.

In addition to symptomatic students or staff, students who are identified as close contacts will also be required to test if they wish to be placed on modified quarantine rather than full quarantine. Students on modified quarantine will be required to test two times in the 10-day quarantine period.

  • How will I be notified of the test results?
You will be notified of results via text and/or email, using whatever contact information you shared when registering through the testing portal.
  • Do I need to complete a registration for each child?

Yes, each person will require their own account. If you have multiple children in the district requiring testing, you will receive multiple notification emails. Please click on each email and complete the registration. Have insurance information readily available if you have insurance as you will need to add it for each child. Insurance is not required for testing, and you will not be billed. Federal funds will reimburse your insurance company.

  • Will my child test at the time I choose in the registration?
At this time, we are not offering appointments. Please use the portal to register for tests, then go to the location offering testing at a day and time that is convenient for you. Current wait times are around 20 minutes, with heavier traffic at the beginning and end of the testing day.
  • Will the test be uncomfortable?

No. The swab only enters the nostril cavity ½ to ¾ of an inch. You may experience a tickling sensation.

  • How often will the testing take place?

Modified Quarantine: Twice in 10 days. The recommended timing is once at day three and once at day five following exposure.

Quarantine: Students on full quarantine will be out of the classroom for a minimum of ten days, with “day zero” being the day you test positive OR the day symptoms appear, keeping in mind you are contagious two days before symptoms appear. You will need to wait until at least day eight to test, and if that is negative you can return to class. If you don’t want to test, you can also wait 14 days — provided you are symptom-free — to come back to school.

  • How will I be notified that I need to be tested?

You will receive an initial notification with testing information, including time frames. You are responsible for getting tested as required. The testing status will be monitored.

  • How do I register for testing?

Registration is available through our registration portal

    https://windsorusd.testscheduler.net/register.

  • What if I do not receive the email to register for the test?
    For detailed information, click here.

  • What will happen if there is a positive test?

When there is a positive test, the site is alerted and our district nurses call the families to ask them contact tracing questions and give them the details of their quarantine:  dates they were contagious, day one of quarantine, day 10 of quarantine and return date. Site attendance is alerted. Students should stay in contact with teachers via google classroom or Jupiter in order to remain current.

  • What if I miss a test when in the modified quarantine?

You will not be able to exit quarantine restrictions until all the testing requirements have been met. If you miss a test, please get tested as soon as possible.
